Norms And Standards

4th Dimension Sober Living requires adherence to our standards of living.

Standards of Requirement for Completion

  1. 4th Dimension Sober Living is a 6 month commitment.
  2. Community Members must adhere to simple house rules. These are rules set in place to create harmony within our communal living space. These rules are subject to change as staff sees fit
  3. Community Members must participate as a member of a 12 step program.
  4. Drinking or using drugs will result in the community members immediate expulsion. There will be no refund of monthly payment.
  5. Verbal or physical violence of any sort will result in the community members immediate expulsion. There will be no refund of   monthly payment.
  6. Stealing of any sort will result in the community members immediate expulsion. There will be no refund of monthly payment.
  7. Romantic or sexual relationships between 4th Dimension community members (men and women) are strictly prohibited. If members are, or were, engaged in such relationship they will be immediately expelled from the house. 

Furthermore, residents must:

  •   Acquire a sponsor.
  •   Actively work the steps.
  •   Become a participating member of a home group.
  •   Participate in a house Big Book study every Monday thru Friday at 5:30.
  •   Complete individually assigned chores.
  •   Curfew is 11:00pm Sun-Thur and 12:00am Fri and Sat.
  •   Participate in the Thursday night monitory AA house meeting
  •   Be present at Community Dinner every Sunday 
  •   Complete assigned chores for deep clean (every Sunday)

Become fully self-supporting:

  •   4th Dimension strongly suggests that each community member pays for his/her own stay at the house. However, the family CAN financially assist the community member if he/she is struggling with rent. Remember, if the community member is more than 2 weeks late he/she will be asks to leave immediately.
  •   Family and friends CAN NOT help with food, clothes, and transportation.
  •   If you are not paid weekly we will make the necessary adjustments.
  •   If you do not pay, or fall short on your payment plan, you will be asked to leave.
  •   Find a job and work a minimum 30 hours per week.
    • Job Search: Community members are required to leave the house at 8 o’clock in the morning to find employment. He or she can return to the house at 3 o’clock.
    • Community members will be accompanied by senior community members during the initial phases of the process (one week or more).
    • Community members are to log all applications.
    • Once a job is obtained, he or she can have free access to the house during the day. However, if he or she is not living a productive life with their off time, he or she may be asked to leave during the day. This will give the individual an opportunity to be of service to the house, the neighborhood, the community, or themselves.

Also,

  • Personal hygiene is mandatory.
  •   Noise levels will be kept to a reasonable level determined by the house manager
  •   No refusal of any requested drug screening. Refusal of drug tests will result in an immediate expulsion from 4th Dimension Properties.
  •   No refusal of car searches. Refusal of having a car searched will result in an immediate expulsion from 4th Dimension Properties. 
  •   No refusal of random phone searches (messages, phone calls, history, etc…). Refusal of having a phone checked or confiscated will result in an immediate expulsion from 4th Dimension Properties.
  •   No overnight guests
  •   No sexual relations inside the house. Sexual relations inside the house will result in an immediate expulsion from 4th Dimension Properties. 
  •   Community Members must complete daily chores and all other structured activities.
  •   Community Members are subject to random room checks in which all items can be searched at anytime. Refusal of having a room and or personal property searched will result in an immediate expulsion from 4th Dimension Properties.

Privileges

The following are a list of privileges community members have, or earned, during their stay at 4th Dimension. It is important that community members understand the privileges can be taken away if management deems necessary. 

  •   Car (must be used as a means of service to 12 step recovery groups and community members) 
  •   Cell phone, laptop, or tablet (over consumption or improper use will result in confiscation)
  •   Overnight passes
  •   Curfew 
  •   Visitations 
  •   Door Code access 
    • The door code (key) is a privilege that is earned through actions and trust. Access to the code can be taken away as manager sees fit.

Monthly Review:

  • Each month community members is assessed by their peers. His or her next month’s stay is granted by the community after a democratic discussion and vote. If the community member is voted out of the house, he or she will have to leave. 

Service:

Service is an important part to living in a community. We believe that everyone is responsible for the physical space and wellbeing of our community. Therefore, community members must be of service to one another and our home throughout their stay at 4th Dimension Sobriety. One person is not responsible for the whole; we equally share our talents and labor to make our culture safe and secure.


Weekend Passes

NOTE: Although community members are granted the privilege of visiting family and friends off site, community activities and house engagement are important. Therefore, community members will have to attend ALL community events, even when these events are on a weekend.

Month 1:

  1. Community members have the privilege of visiting family and friends on Saturday and Sunday. (This includes visitation with significant others.)
  2. These visitations must be approved by the house manager and community members are responsible for providing proof of there daily activities.
  3. On Saturday, community members must return in time to attend an evening 12 step meeting. He or she must communicate which meeting he or she will be attending with the house manager.
  4. On Sunday, community members must return by 6:00pm (no excuses of any kind) to attend a 12 step meeting as a entire house.
  5. There will be absolutely no overnight passes granted during the first month.

Month 2:

  1. Community members have the privilege of visiting family and friends on Saturday and Sunday. (This includes visitation with significant others.)
  2. These visitations must be approved by the house manager and community members are responsible for providing proof of there daily activities.
  3. On Saturday, although highly recommended, community members are not required to attend an evening 12 step meeting if he or she is engaged in a principled action. These actions will be explained upon arrival
  4. On Sunday, community members must return by 3:00pm (no excuses of any kind) to attend a 12 step meeting as a entire house.
  5. Community members are granted the privilege of one over night pass. This pass can only be used from Saturday morning to Sunday evening. Community members must return by 3:00pm (no excuses of any kind) to attend a 12 step meeting as a entire house.

Month 3:

Bullet points 1-4 are the same as the previous months.

5. Community members are granted the privilege of two over night passes. These passes can only be used from Saturday morning to Sunday afternoon. Community members must return by 3:00pm (no excuses of any kind) to attend a 12 step meeting as a entire house.

Month 4:

Bullet points 1-4 are the same as the previous months.

5. Community members are granted the privilege of three over night passes. These passes can only be used from Saturday morning to Sunday afternoon. Community members must return by 3:00pm (no excuses of any kind) to attend a 12 step meeting as a entire house.

Month 5-6:

Bullet points 1-4 are the same as the previous months.

5. Community members are granted the privilege of four over night passes. These passes can only be used from Friday evening (after an AA meeting) to Sunday afternoon. Community members must return by 3:00pm (no excuses of any kind) to attend a 12 step meeting as a entire house. 


Visitation and Family/Friends Assistance:

Financial Assistance:

4th Dimension strongly suggests that each community member pays for his or her own stay at the house. However, the family CAN financially assist the community member if he or she is struggling with rent. Remember, if the community member is more than 2 weeks late he or she will be asked to leave immediately.

Services:

Community members are prohibited from receiving assistance from family and friends. For example, family and friends can not enable community members by providing them with rides or giving them day shelter. Community members must learn to be responsible for their own lives.

Visitation:

  • Family and friends CAN visit community members anytime outside of structured community activities.
    • Significant others, from long term relationships (wives or girlfriend/boyfriend from relationships lasting 12 months or more) are allow to visit only during visitation hours.
      • All forms of physical displays of affection are strictly prohibited.  
  • Men/women can have children (sons or daughters) visit during visitation hours..
    • Men/women MUST provide proper guidance and structure for his/her children during the visit. If children are a disturbance, they will be asked to leave and will not be welcome back. In other words, children MUST be on their best behavior.
    • Community members can only have their own children visit. Children of friends or significant others can NOT be on the premises.

These rules are subject to change as staff sees fit.

Any and all personal belongings left on the premises of 4th Dimension Sobriety Inc (2838 n Weil, Milwaukee WI 53212) for more than 24 hours after voluntary or involuntary discharge from the 4th Dimension program become property of 4th Dimension Sobriety Inc. By signing below I give 4th Dimension Sobriety Inc permission to dispose of these items however they see fit. By signing below I also agree that any theft, loss, or damage of any kind to any personal property is not the responsibility of 4th Dimension Sobriety Inc, and that I will not hold 4th Dimension Sobriety Inc responsible. Items of personal or monetary value should not be brought to the facility.
